Campaign complete! Hooray!

Thanks to you, the Plague of Demons Kickstarter campaign has been a big success! Each and every one of you are awesome. Thank you!

Here's what's next:

I'm an action-taker, personally. I'd love nothing more than to go ahead and start sending out rewards ... but before I can do that, I need to send out surveys to collect information from you ... and before I can do THAT, some logistical and financial stuff needs to happen with Kickstarter that's beyond my control. This process takes about two weeks.

After that, though, I'll send you a survey through a service called BackerKit.These aren't the usual lame surveys like, "How was your experience with Kickstarter on a scale of 1-10?" They instead collect vital information like your preferred email or mailing address and some info needed for your specific rewards. I NEED THIS SURVEY INFORMATION TO FULFILL REWARDS, so please plan to quickly fill out those surveys when they come (next week or the week after).

NEW TO THIS CAMPAIGN: A chance to get any of my books as signed paperbacks that you'd like!

As part of the BackerKit surveys I just mentioned, you'll be able to purchase some additional "Add-On" items if you'd like to. These Add-Ons are different from those offered during the Kickstarter because the logistics are easier on BackerKit than on Kickstarter.

Specifically, you'll be able to buy ANY (or, theoretically, all) of my paperback books as signed copies during the survey process. I've never done this before. Most of my books are available in paperback, so here's your chance to get the ones you've been wanting!

Again, just stay tuned. I'll send out the surveys (which include a chance to get those signed books) next week or the week after.

As to my delivering your Kickstarter rewards, here's the scoop:

DIGITAL REWARDS

As people fill out the surveys, I can begin delivering rewards. Ebooks will come in the first wave. You'll be able to start reading your ebooks in a week or two!

PHYSICAL BOOKS

I need to order these, then receive and re-ship them so I can sign the hardbacks. The process can take a while. However, I was able to do it pretty quickly in the past, so you'll get this stuff within the window of what's considered "normal" on Kickstarter.

So basically: Stay tuned, I'll be in touch, and I appreciate the Hell out of all of you! (See how I capitalized the "H" in "Hell"? Because it's a demon book? Get it?)

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR AMAZING SUPPORT!!

More cool art

Hey everybody!

With just 72 hours left in the campaign, I've been continuing to design and build the final books. It's awesome. THIS is the reason I do these books on Kickstarter to begin with: I can create cool things that wouldn't work anywhere else.

Last update, I showed you the art that will be foil-stamped onto the hardbacks (beneath the dust jacket).

This time, I wanted to show you the custom endpapers, also for the hardbacks. (Paperbacks can't have endpapers.)

Endpapers are the first spread you see when you open a hardback's cover, before you turn the first page. Technically speaking, they exist to cover up the otherwise-unsightly glue job that happens when the cover is wrapped around the boards that make a hardback "hard." Endpapers seal over that. They're usually just plain paper, but I'm able to customize them ... so that instead of merely being functional, they're also cool.

Here's what the endpapers for the prior book (City of Fire) look like, just so you can see what I mean:

.
For Plague of Demons, I decided I liked the idea of using something retro for the endpapers. SUPER retro. Like, "burning witches long before Salem" old-school retro.

So I decided to use a pair of woodcut-style images, one for the front papers and one for the back. Check 'em out:

.
Personally, I think those are going to be cool as hell in the hardbacks!

We've only got three days left on the campaign (it ends Wednesday morning at 10am US Central time, so if you know readers who love cool, artisan-style books like these (or if you want to upgrade your own pledge), now's the time to share and do it.

Thanks for all your support!

Cool art!

Hey everybody!

We're about halfway done with this campaign already! Because it funded so quickly (took about an hour), I got to work right away working on the books themselves.

Thought I'd share. This is the art that will be stamped onto the Plague of Demons hardbacks in gold foil, over a textured black background like the previous two books in the series:

The black parts will be foil and the background will show through everywhere else. For comparison, here's how it looked on the finished City of Fire (book 2) hardback:

.
So you've got that coolness going for you. Which is nice.

We've got a week left on this campaign, so please spread the word! Tell your book-loving friends. Remember, newcomers can catch up on ALL THREE BOOKS in this campaign. The complete trilogy is available in these sexy gold-foil-stamped hardbacks (with a sweet dust jacket over top, ribbon bookmarks, custom endpapers inside ... the works), but also as paperback and ebook.

So yeah. If you wouldn't mind spreading the word, that'd be hot. These are so sexy, I want as many people to love them as possible. :) Just send your reader friends this link.

Thanks for backing, and for all your amazing support!
